- ➤ Today in Clarksville, Downtown Commons hosts a free ’90s dance party with Foolhouse from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Upcoming events include a $10 comic, toy and anime con at Quality Inn on Saturday and Sunday, a free Emancipation Day Block Party at Dixon Park on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and a free movie screening with live local music at Liberty Park on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.—food trucks will serve all venues. - ➤ Manna Cafe Ministries ended its food distributions early Wednesday after extreme heat, a broken air conditioning unit, and faulty refrigerators made conditions unsafe for volunteers — the organization, which feeds hundreds weekly, is waiting for repairs and plans to continue serving local residents. - ➤ The City of Clarksville Parking Commission approved a two-hour free parking program for downtown that begins today using the Parkmobile app—visitors must scan QR codes or text to pay to secure their free spot. - ➤ City officials announced that construction on the first phase to realign Dunbar Cave Road at Rossview Road is complete and the road is now open for motorists—more work will continue to connect to Cardinal Lane in time for schools to open next week. - ➤ The Montgomery County Highway Department is constructing a roundabout at Rollow Lane and Dunlop Lane, which has been closed since spring flooding. If weather cooperates, the project will be finished by late August — officials said. ClarksvilleNow.com
- ➤ The City of Clarksville restored its historic archway at 106 Public Square and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning in front of the building that now houses City Council Chambers and City Court—a project that preserves an important part of our local history. Clarksville Online
