COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Manna Cafe Ministries is the only Tennessee nonprofit among 56 finalists for the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award and is asking locals to vote via the Chick-fil-A app to support its work in Montgomery and Stewart counties. Voting runs from Sept. 2 to Sept. 30 — if the nonprofit wins, it will receive funding from $30,000 to $350,000 to continue its food and service programs. Main Street Clarksville
- ➤ Clarksville is celebrating America’s 250th Birthday with a series of free events called The Road to 250 that will feature dramatic presentations on the Mabry Stage starting tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. and upcoming patriotic concerts by the Cumberland Winds as well as civic essays on local support. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brittani Mays, a former Miss Clarksville, organized a book drive that collected nearly 1,000 books for Title I elementary schools in CMCSS. - ➤ Today, Northwest High School removed a volunteer assistant football coach after he led a prayer using a Bible during a game—sparking debate about the appropriate role of personal faith in school events. Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools said they are investigating the incident and will provide more details once the review is complete. WKRN

- ➤ The Clarksville Gas and Water Department turned off water service on Swan Lake Drive for a valve replacement work—traffic is detoured and low water pressure is expected until work finishes by about 3:30 p.m. Clarksville Online

- ➤ Voting for the Leaf-Chronicle’s girls athlete of the week for Sept. 1-7 is open and will end Sept. 11 at 2 p.m.—voters can choose from high school players in volleyball and soccer based on standout game performances. The Leaf Chronicle
- ➤ The Nashville Kats arena football team is considering moving to Clarksville for the 2026 season while playing at F&M Bank Arena. The arena is offering a refundable $26 deposit to fans, and if enough interest is shown, the team will make a full move to the city. ClarksvilleNow.com
